Easter chaos: There were chaotic scenes at Majorca's main airport as thousands of British tourists attempted to get onto the island for the Easter break
British tourists were fainting in chaotic scenes at Majorca's Palma airport due to "increased security checks" by Spanish officials.
Footage on social media shows huge queues of up to 1,000 British travellers inside the holiday island's main airport.
Budget airline Jet2 told passengers the delays were down to "increased security checks".
It comes amid rising tensions between the UK and Spain over Gibraltar, a British overseas territory on Spain's southern coast.
But the Foreign Office said the Palma chaos had nothing to do with the Gibraltar standoff.
Olli Astley wrote on Twitter: "People passing out and huge problems at Palma Airport, staff have no clue what's happening."
